Air Freight FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

Why are air shipping rates so volatile?

Air freight rates fluctuate based on jet fuel price adjustments, seasonal capacity demands, carrier surcharges, and global trade volume shifts. Coastal Shipping Services leverages long-term airline partnerships to lock in competitive pricing and mitigate unexpected rate spikes for our clients.

What are the standard methods of freight payment?

We offer flexible payment options tailored to commercial and individual shippers. Accepted payment methods include wire transfers, credit cards, alternative digital payments, and approved credit terms for high-volume corporate accounts.

Do you handle international household and relocation moves?

Yes, Coastal Shipping Services provides specialized air freight services for high-priority household goods and personal effects. We ensure fast transit, professional export packaging, and assistance with international personal import clearances.

How and where can we pick up cargo at the destination?

Once your shipment lands and clears customs, cargo can be collected directly from the designated airport cargo terminal or bonded warehouse. Alternatively, we provide seamless door-to-door delivery straight to your final warehouse or business facility.

What types of goods can be shipped via air freight?

We handle a wide spectrum of cargo, including general commercial goods, high-value electronics, pharmaceuticals, perishable items, and time-critical automotive or industrial spare parts. Temperature-controlled and specialized handling options are available upon request.

How is chargeable weight calculated for air freight?

Air freight charges are determined by comparing actual gross weight against volumetric (dimensional) weight. Volumetric weight accounts for the space a package occupies on an aircraft and is calculated using standard international IATA formulas ($L \times W \times H / 6000$). Charges are billed using whichever value is greater.

Do you offer customs clearance services for air cargo?

Yes, our logistics specialists handle full export and import customs brokerage. We prepare required documentation, manage duty and tax assessments, and coordinate with port authorities to ensure rapid clearance without costly terminal delays.

How can I track my air freight shipment in real time?

Every air freight booking includes dedicated tracking information. Enter your unique Tracking Number or Air Waybill (AWB) directly on our tracking portal to monitor milestone updates from flight departure to final delivery.
